Rooted in Faith, Growing Together, Caring for the Community
We are delighted that you have found your way to the First Presbyterian Church, Chili, NY- also known as Chili Pres. Inspired by the teaching that Jesus is the true vine and we are the branches, our mission is to be firmly rooted in faith, to grow together, and to care for our neighbors.
We are an intergenerational Presbyterian (USA) Church committed to fostering radical hospitality. We honor the diverse viewpoints each individual contributes and intentionally create an environment that is welcoming and inclusive for all people. Our mission is to embark on the journey of discipleship together. We are committed to learning alongside one another, continually discovering how to more faithfully embody the teachings of Jesus in every aspect of our lives. Recognizing that the world around us is always changing, we seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit with both courage and openness. This shared pursuit strengthens our community as we encourage one another to grow, adapt, and respond to the needs of our time while remaining rooted in faith.
Our Food Cupboard, labyrinth trail, cooking classes, and community outreach events are designed to foster meaningful engagement with the greater Chili community. Chili Pres is also committed to bringing up the next generation to know and love the Word of God. Our ministry programs focus on equipping every member to have a growing and contagious relationship with Jesus.
We invite you to join our faith family and look forward to seeing you.

Care For the Community
Here at Chili Pres, we’re proud to be part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), which means we’re connected with other Presbyterian congregations both in the Rochester area and all across the country. We truly believe that every person is made in the image of God, and that the message of Jesus is good news for everyone—no exceptions! That’s why we’re passionate about welcoming, affirming and including all people, just as they are.
For us, salvation through Jesus isn’t something we earn; it’s an incredibly generous gift from God. The words of Scripture, both the Old and New Testaments, guide us and inspire us every day.
Our denomination celebrates two sacraments- Baptism and Communion.
Baptism is our way of celebrating that, because of God’s incredible love, we’ve become part of God’s family. The water we use is a symbol of renewal and grace. It reminds us that we’re connected to Jesus, sharing in both his death and his resurrection, and that we get to start fresh, united with him.
Communion is an opportunity to remember the night Jesus gathered with his disciples to share a meal before his arrest and crucifixion. In celebrating this sacrament, the Holy Spirit brings us together as one family in Christ and gives us the strength to go out and be his hands and feet, spreading his love in the world.
