The ACE Team (Advent Christmas Epiphany) from the First Presbyterian Church of Chili chose to support Continuing Developmental Services (CDS) as their Mission Outreach Project in December. Brenda Naugle, a member of the church and the ACE Team, works for this agency. CDS provides opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives in their communities. The organization believes everyone deserves the right to both quality and choice of care.
CDS provides: comprehensive opportunities for socialization and skill development, employment and career training, family training, education and support, as well as community based residential services.
The church sponsored two families, each of whom has a child supported by CDS. A Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall was adorned with ornaments that included a person’s name and an item they would enjoy receiving for Christmas. Members of the congregation chose one or more ornaments with the gift ideas. Over 2 dozen gifts were purchased and delivered to these families. The recipients were overwhelmed and grateful for the generosity of the church – their Christmas season was definitely a little brighter.
